Job Description

Under the supervision of the Mayor and the City Manager, you will participate actively in enhancing the reputation of Dollard-des-Ormeaux by establishing, developing and maintaining partnerships with the stakeholders of the various communities in the City. You will collaborate with the Mayor and the head of the Communications Department in designing a range of communication tools, publications and material and completing a variety of projects. You will carry out various public, promotional, advertising and information activities aimed at citizens and other client groups. In short, you will support the mayor’s various projects, files and mandates for the well-being of the City.

 

  • Prepare and draft press releases and media releases, speeches, newsletters and other communications;
  • Conduct media monitoring, maintain relations with the media and represent the City, as needed;
  • Participate in the creation and deployment of communication strategies with superiors and the head of the Communications Department;
  • Establish, develop and maintain partnerships with stakeholders from the various communities in the City;
  • Plan and organize press conferences and civic receptions, as needed;
  • Communicate with various government agencies to obtain the information required by the Mayor or City Manager;
  • Constantly monitor political developments to analyze and identify desirable public actions to be taken.

Qualifications required

Profile

  • Undergraduate diploma in communications (public relations) or any other relevant field
  • Three to five years of relevant experience
  • Fluently bilingual with excellent drafting and proofreading skills
  • Knowledge of the municipal sector, an asset
  • Sound knowledge of social media
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent organizer and planner

  • 35-hour work week from Monday to Friday (This position will require working outside of regular hours from time to time.)

Salary scale from $78,073 to $101,495
